Tales of a "has been" super Mom...

What exactly has happened to me? That is the question I sit here pondering, in my messy house, with my dirty children. Once upon a time I could have every person in this house bathed, dressed, and fed before 8 in the morning. I was on top of things. We'd start the morning with the dishes and straightening. My children knew that what we got out we put away before the next toy emerged and dinner was always done by the time Cory got home from work (well ok not always but even Super Mom has her kryptonite right!).

Since Mason has come home chaos has reigned supreme. I've been told often enough to cherish these years (and I do) and to not worry about the little stuff (I try), but I still find myself wondering how on earth we went from one day of laundry a week to one load of laundry every other day? And how is it that our family, that only expanded by one little mouth, now suddenly requires me to do 2 loads of dishes a day? I thought all Mason was using were a few bottles a day? Perhaps he sneaks the occasional midnight snack?? And what of those amazing kids who put away those toys...where did they go? I've knicked my foot 3 times on the same hotwheel track that I am honestly starting to believe is putting ITSELF in the middle of my living room floor.

So today I'm wondering where she went, that super mom, and wondering if she plans on returning any time soon. My house sure could use a visit from her, but on the bright side we are all dressed, and everyone is fed and happy. Perhaps that is what I should focus on until she gets here!

We are not required to be perfect in all ways or all things. We only need to do our best at any given time or set of circumstances. Take a few minites and read Pres. Uchtdorf's talk from the priesthood session of conference. It is titled "We are doing a great work and cannot come down". Then look over every thing you have to do and do your best. We all Love you, MOM loves you, and Father in Heaven loves you. We will all remember you in our prayers. Jewel asks about you almost every time we are together. LOVE DAD

Okay, so the obvious thing to remember here is that YOU JUST HAD A BABY silly!!! And so, your emotions are bound to be going crazy, your body not healed, your older kids off-kilter, your husband is more tired, you are more tired. If you posted something saying you felt like back to the old super mom already you'd probably have lots of readers silently "despising" you in a friendly way. :) Don't worry, all moms have been there, but you will adjust and slowly you'll get life to a more manageable state.

Ditto on what Jay and Elizabeth both said! It will take a few weeks to get a new routine going. It will be "new", not the old one you had. Every single person in the house is adjusting!

Just remember the old poem..."Fly away cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!"

Do what you can, blow off the rest! We all know you are next to perfection as one of God's most delightful daughters and dedicated mommies!! Don't worry...she's in there still and she'll be back!

Ditto to all of the above. We love you and we have all been there. The bright spot is this . . "It Gets Better"!!! Okay, not until they move out, but that day is coming. Take it from a Mom who knows. I would trade my clean house and empty sink for a house full of kids ANY DAY!!! Enjoy it while you can and know how much we, I, Love You! Jalyn

I love what Jalyn said about giving up her clean kitchen sink. Throughout our lives our priorities change, or get a little refocused, that is how we learn and grow. Think how much you are learning and growing. And can I just say again.....YOU JUST HAD A BABY!!!!! You still amaze me:)

Ok, first of all, You are and always will be supermom and my personal hero. And if you can't actually handle it as you claim, then I'm screwed and Joey won't have a sibling until she starts kindergarten! Keep trucking! Soon Mason won't eat quite so often and you'll be able to breathe a bit more. Love you tons!
