The things that make me Thankful!

Having just wrapped up Thanksgiving, I've been thinking about what makes me thankful. There's the obvious big things like family and health, but I'm thankful for the little things as well. I'm thankful for my sweet nephews who kept my children occupied this last weekend so that I could visit with my Dad, brothers, and sisters. They took them outside and buried them in leaves and played with them for 5 days straight. What awesome kids!

Then there's my own sweet children and my nieces children who decorated a Christmas tree for my mom. They took turns putting ornaments on the tree and nobody fought or bickered over turns. It went a million times better then I thought it would. Again just a little thing that made things much easier on me.

I was grateful for the opportunity to visit my Mom. This was the first time that I've been able to go back and see her and I was really worried that it would be painful. But it was actually comforting. There was a spirit there that made it all better. I'm grateful for the gospel that helps me to know that she is still there.

All it all my Thanksgiving was incredible. It was so good to see everyone and visit with family and friends.

What a crazy week!

Wow things have been crazy here at the Hadley Household. We are currently in the process of refinancing our home and between appraisals and paperwork I feel like all I do these days is sign things. But hopefully all will be done in a week or so.

Then there's the dentist. Cory and I finally have dental insurance and I was the first to go in for some work. What fun it has been. Four cavities, all in the front, and one that may end up being a root canal (BLAH). But I only have one more appointment to go and then my mouth will once again be whole.

Cory is still working hard on school and (after much prayer) we've decided that I'll be going back to school next month as well. I'm really excited about it. It will be nice to know that if something should happen to Cory, I'd be able to support our family. Wish me luck, I'm sure it will be a challenge, but one I'm really looking forward to.

This week we also put up the Christmas tree since we'll be out of town all next week. It was wonderful and Jaxson loved it. He played under the tree for a half an hour just cooing and laughing at the lights. It was so stinkin' cute.

I'll close by saying Happy Turkey Day to all. We love you and look forward to seeing you all.

Animal Season has begun!

About an hour after I wrote that last blog Cory and I were watching TV and started to hear a strange noise on the front porch. It sounded like someone raking leaves on cement. So I decided to see what it was. I pulled back our blinds only to find myself nose to nose with a deer, literally. He was looking right in our window along with 4 of his closest friends. I almost had a heart attack and Cory thought I'd wake the kids with my scream. I think I scared them worse though, he looked like a deer in the headlights, hehe!

Furry Friends

This evening I noticed that a LOT of cars were driving by our house and taking pictures of it. Odd I thought, considering that our home is just your run of the mill house, blue and white with some trees and grass. Nothing to spectacular. Maybe they were admiring my beautiful fall door wreath, or taking in the splendor of our half naked apple trees. Interesting I was thinking to myself as I opened my front door and came face to face with...

Mike and Mary (As Trace has named them) our dear friends that we met last year when Mike was just a wee thing (probably the size of a small horse) and Mary almost charged Cory for taking a picture. We learned fast that here in our cul de sac we'd be sharing space with our furry friends (deer, moose, the occasional skunk or squirrel, and a touch of porcupine). Little did we know we'd get to know them up close and personal. Maybe next time we'll invite them in for hot cocoa and a nice chat with friends!

Brotherly Love

I am such a lucky mommy. My kids all love each other so much and they are great kids! We were making dinner last night when we heard trace from the other room. He has memorized some of his story books, not word for word, but he gets the idea. So I peeked around the corner and this is what I saw...Cute Trace was reading to Jaxson out of his dinosaur book. I was really worried that there would be jealousy issues when Jax came along, but we've been so blessed. Everyone here loves everyone else and its wonderful. To quote the primary song, "we are a happy family!"
