When life throws you lemons...

Yikes today has been one for the books. For the last week or so we've noticed our toilet slowly backing up. It got progressivley slower until this morning it was just unbearable. It seems that one of our little darlings flushed a toy that got stuck! So we bought an auger and went to work. We tried everything we could think of, including taking the toilet up and trying from the other side. NOTHING!! Now mind you we only have one bathroom in our house and we had a choice. After 2 hours of trying the choices were these; pay a plumber $100 to grace us with his presence on a weekend and then whatever he charged us for his services, or pay $80 for a new toilet. We went with plan B. It was probably needed as the toilet was 20 years old anyways. So now we have a lovely NEW toilet that is working well (After a couple ours of fiddling from my sweet husband!). Have I mentioned lately that I love being a homeowner!

Home ownership is definitely a double edged sword! Your story reminded me of two adorable little boys who flushed their mother's electric curlers. Some made it to freedom, some didn't and I got a new set of curlers out of it (would YOU use the old ones?).

Wess flushed 14 toy cars in our bathroom. 10 floated and 4 got hoplessly stuck. Yes, it is a joy.

I have to laugh when I think of Cory using tools. Way to go big man.

Ooh, we have totally had this exact experience, only it was Saturday night and there were no toilets available for purchase at that time of night. We also had just one bathroom. Nathaniel and his brother who happened to be visiting were outside in the snow with the thing with their arms all the way up trying to reach whatever was stuck. They got out (besides the yucky obvious poop) a necklace that didn't belong to me, several hairpins, and a coin but not anything big enough to cause a blockage. We were about to give up and have to go toilet shopping on Sunday when somebody had the bright idea of using a hose! It FINALLY worked to use a garden hose from the bottom up and there came out our prize: The pee guard off Brent's little potty.

Then? Then what happened???????? Not that much later we were redoing the tile in the bathroom and had to remove the toilet, which slipped from Nathaniel's fingers to shatter in the bathtub. We said "good riddance!"

By the way, you did a great job with singing time in nursery today! I think it will really help the kids prepare for Sunbeams, and just be a lot of fun!

Been there! Nothing is more humiliating than hveing your toilet in the front yard and having your neighbor help with the garden hose. Blecchh!

I was the culprit once when I flushed an orange at about age 4. We also had only one potty in the house and that one very vivid memory! (Grandpa was NOT happy that day)
